Our baby was 2 weeks early and had a hard time drinking from a size 1 nipple. She could not keep up with the flow. The slower flow of this nipple allows newborns the opportunity to learn how to drink from a bottle without choking from fast milk flow. These would also work for a full-term baby that has difficulty keeping up with the flow of the size 1 nipples.
